Many of us are winding down our holiday preparations, and we are packing up ornaments, changing our diets, and erasing holiday playlists from our iPods. However, there is one day left to celebrate with good cheer; one door left open to a little decadence and indulgence. This would, of course, be New Years, and we are ready to ring it in.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5459\" title=\"chocolate espresso mini doughnuts | bread in five\" src=\"https:\/\/artisanbreadinfive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/doughnuts2-1-of-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"435\" height=\"653\" srcset=\"https:\/\/artisanbreadinfive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/doughnuts2-1-of-1.jpg 435w, https:\/\/artisanbreadinfive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/doughnuts2-1-of-1-199x300.jpg 199w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 435px) 100vw, 435px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We decided to make good use again of our <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/artisanbreadinfive.com\/2012\/12\/04\/chocolate-coffee-cardamom-bread-and-a-contest-giveaway\" target=\"_blank\">Chocolate Coffee Bread<\/a><\/strong>, and came up with a sweet little treat: Mini Doughnuts! We&#8217;ve made <a href=\"https:\/\/artisanbreadinfive.com\/2012\/08\/15\/mini-doughnuts-for-the-state-fair\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Mini Doughnuts<\/strong><\/a> before, but this time things are a bit more sophisticated. These doughnuts are grown up; the chocolate bread is only slightly sweet, and the glaze is rich and deep, adding the ideal balance. A small biscuit cutter works well to cut circles, and the spout of a funnel was a good tool for poking small center holes. You can coat doughnuts in just plain sugar, but we loved adding a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foodnetwork.com\/recipes\/alton-brown\/chocolate-doughnut-glaze-recipe\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>rich chocolate glaze<\/strong><\/a>. These are best eaten right away, warm to slightly warm, although they will taste great the same day they are made.
