10th Anniversary of Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day

How time flies when you are having fun baking bread. 10 years ago we published our first book, Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day, and it’s been an exciting journey ever since. Our publisher took a chance on two unknown authors; a pastry chef and a physician with a crazy idea of how to change how people bake bread. The publisher printed 5000 copies, hedging their bets in case it didn’t sell, but they sold in a week. They printed another 5000 and those too sold right away. They did it again and again, thinking it would slow down, but it didn’t. Here we are 10 years later, a second edition, 5 other titles and 750,000 copies of our books sold. This is all because of you, our incredible readers and the inspiration for all of our books. You have been there with us and for us, and we want to thank you!

Our first edition of Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day is no longer in print, but the second edition The New Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day is even better and we want to give you a copy. For a chance to win, please leave a comment here and we’ll pick 5 winners. You can also go to our Instagram page, like our page and tag two friends for another chance to win. We’ll be giving away 5 copies to our Instagram followers. Please see our giveaway policy. This contest is finished and winners were announced!

For those of you who are not familiar with our method, you can find the Master Recipe from The NewABin5 here!

Thank you and Happy Baking!

  10. Thanks for this opportunity to win. I love your concept and have bought the books for gifts but so far I haven’t kept one for me! I’ve gone so far as to buy the right size storage container and “wisk”. I’d love to start baking home made bread for my 90 year old mother.

  11. I’ve literally baked hundreds of loaves from your first book. Would love the opportunity to own the newest edition!

  12. I love every recipe of yours that I’ve tried. And the times I’ve experimented on my own! I’m a big fan of baking but bread always seemed too finicky of a challenge until a friend told me about your methods. Now I almost always have a bucket of some version of your recipes in my fridge and so far the worst result is a few less-than-pretty but still very tasty breads!

  13. Newly diagnosed with celiac disease. My favorite hobby was baking fresh bread and you’ve given me hope that this will be a fun and tasty new journey. Thanks!

  14. Best bread ever! Your original recipe turned this cook into a baker! Nothing beats the smell and taste of freshly baked bread. Thank you.

  15. Wow, 10 years all ready. That means i got this book when i was 23. I got it first month it was out. Dang

Anywhey, i have a question. I want to use some liquied whey that i have from some sourcream or yogurt for my bread. Do you know how much whey i would need to use? Is a quarter cup sufficient enough or would i need more?

    Thanks

    1. Hi Matt,

I am so thrilled you’ve been using the book since the very start!

I generally use up to 50% whey and 50% water, but any amount you have will add a nice flavor. Just replace any water with the whey.

      Thanks, Zoë

  21. Oh my goodness – 10 years already? I have a copy of the pre-release publisher’s version I bought at a local used book store. I also have the “New” book, the pizza and flatbread book, and the Healthy Breads book.

  22. Giveaway….not sure if this giveaway is still active or not….but if it is!!!!!!YAY!!!!!!!
I LOVE making bread. I started years ago with my grandmother, learning her recipe when she didn’t have one written down! I’d be so happy & excited to win your book & learn you’re recipes & techniques!! Thanks a bunch for throwing chance to do so!!! Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays!!

  23. Congratulations on your anniversary! We’ve just discovered your method and can’t believe how easy it is to produce freshly baked bread (and homemade pizza) on a moment’s notice. It’s transformed our weeknight dinners!

  24. Hello, I see that I have missed the deadline. More importantly I wanted to let you know how much I have enjoyed baking with this amazing process. Years ago when I didn’t have a proper oven I baked it in a countertop oven on a cast iron steak plate with water in a 1 cup silicone cup. It was great to be able to enjoy a tiny loaf or a couple of rolls often. Thank you so much for making this possible. I now have a proper oven and have been getting the right equiptment. I will soon be baking every day or two. Can’t wait. Congratulations on your wonderful success. You have brought much joy to so many people. Kind Regards
